Learning English with SONG

Learning English with SONG

What is you favorite song?  How many songs on you IPod or in your phone are in English?                   If you have some, you can learn English easily. Please stay tuned for my tip. Yoyo & Cici Emoticons 14

When you listen to songs in English, have you ever thought of the grammar and words in them?

Songs are a great way for you to learn English. They are short and enjoyable and if a song is a favorite of yours, you will want to listen to it over and over again.

  • The best way to start is to find the lyrics of the song that you have chosen. Write them down in your note book. The good thing about writing lyrics down is that it will give you a chance to learn some new words.

  • Listen to the song and read the lyrics at the same time. This will help you to know exactly what the singer is singing as sometimes it is difficult to understand what the words are.

  • Songs are also a great way to learn slang words and expressions. Artists use lots of them in their songs. Go search online for the meaning.

  • Listen to the song and sing along if you like. It can help you to pronounce new words.

  • Repeat these steps with more songs.. It will take you a bit of time but the result is will surprise you.

I hope you like this tip and that you enjoy trying it.

Verbal vs Nominal Sentences

Do you know, what is differences between " Verbal "  and " Nominal "  sentences ? are you confused ?  OK , Now i will explain about it. Let's see and enjoy to learn english and make it have fun.

  2. Verbal does not to be

Example :

  • Rina makes delicious cake

Meanwhile, Nominal Sentences

  1. Predicat is another verb like adjectives, adverb , and noun
  2. Need to be

  • I am beautiful girl
  • My father is a teacher
  • My brother is  at home

Not Only ... But Also

" Not only ... But also"

Hi, this is my first posting  Now, i will explain about Not only ..But also in correlatives conjuction . Before i will explain about it, what is the meaning correlatives conjuction ? If you know , please raise your hand Photobucket. That's Rightmilkysmile  Correlative conjuction is A paired conjuction (such as not only . . . but also) that links balanced words, phrases, and clauses.

Language Focus

The correlative conjuctions not only … but also must be used as a pair in joining like entities. These pairs of conjunctions require equal (parallel) structures after each one.

Pattern

   S +  verb  +  not only  + ( noun/adj/adv/prep.phrase) +  but also + (noun/adj/adv/prep.phrase)

Or

S + not only + verb + but also + verb

     Examples :

  •  Robert is not only talented but also handsome. --> ( adjective + adjective )
  •   Beth plays not only the guitar but also the violin. --> ( noun + noun )

  •  He writes not only correctly but also neatly.--> ( adverb + adverb )

  • Maria excels not only in mathematics  but also in science.-->( pre. phrase + pre.phrase )
  •  Paul Anka not only plays the piano but also composes music.--> ( verb + verb )

When you connect two clauses or phrases with a correlative conjunction (not onlybut also) , the subject closest to the verb determines whether the verb is singular or plural

  • Not only my mother but also my sister is here.

At this sentence after the use of not only - but also to be followed by the singular "is" to represent my sister as the last subject / nearby.)

Make sure that the not only clause immediately precedes the phrase to which it refers. Notice the following example.

  • He is famous not only in Italy but also Austaralia.

Note : If there is only one adjective , it usually precedes the not only clause. In the above sentence , the adjective famous refers both to Italy and Australia.

Characteristic

  1. When you connect two clauses or phrases with a correlative conjunction (not onlybut also) use parallel structure.
  2. When you connect two clauses or phrases with a correlative conjunction (not onlybut also), the subject closest to the verb determines whether the verb is singular or plural

Okay , Thank you for visiting my blog and i hope to be useful for you. Photobucket
